October 14, 2021 at 2:50 amI would be remiss if I did not pay my respects to Jan’s daughters and their respective families and to Wally and jeanne on her passing. Note I called her Jan and not Janice. That is the name everyone called her when we were growing up in St.Davids. I grew up with Jan and Wally. Jan was a sturdy girl who excelled at netball and lawn tennis. She always had that serious look but it would quickly disapper with a smile and accompanying laughter. She was a good listener and wasn’t one for giving too much advice. She had a very calming voice. The last time I saw her was at the opening of the Blackman and Gollop school. I took a picture with her which I must find and keep in a special place. When i was home in 2016 my cousin Greta who was her side kick when we were growing up gave me her telephone number and I spoke with her promising her that on my next visit home I would make it a priority to see her. Her passing was a real shock to me as I am sure it was to others. She has now gone to meet Deighton the love of her life, who when they were courting would sometimes take time out to play cricket with us on the school pasture. may she rest in peace and rise in glory
