Dear family of Sylvan, I am really sorry to hear that your beloved Sylvan passed away. Sylvan is in good place right now, but the loss for you must be enormous. My condolences to all of you.
I first met Sylvan when the ship was in Barbados in 1993 and as a crew member I signed up to be a ‘big brother’ and was connected with Sylvan for the time the ship was in port. Looking after and interacting with Sylvan, always joyful and many questions, made my time in Barbados a lot more special. Through the years we stayed in touch as he came to the ship for a longer time and I continued working with OM.
All the best and may the great Comforter give you peace.

PS I do have some photographs of the time the ship was in Barbados.. if you are interested please let me know: douwe.scheepsma@om.org
