Christine Smithwick

Christine Smithwick

Christine Smithwick is often mistaken for a recording and is the voice you hear between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. when you call the Downes & Wilson Funeral Home.

Basing her sensitivity on the saying “the way we would want to be treated, is the way we should treat others”, Christine undertakes her function as Secretary in a quiet professional manner. She brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the business with training in varying areas such as Pharmaceuticals, Credit Union Relations, Secretarial Studies, Project Management and Customer Relations as well as a solid background in Customer Service and Secretarial duties spanning over 25 years.

With diverse duties, Christine sees her role as mostly a Liaison Officer as her responsibilities include arranging funerals by assisting families with the process of funeral planning which includes choosing the Church, Cemetery, casket, funeral program and flowers. She also liaises with the QEH, Coroner’s Court, Doctors, the Police, Cemetery Superintendents, Priests, Registrar Supreme Court, NIS and a host of other entities.

This youthful grandmother and avid reader is an amicable individual and team player who enjoys her job and is aware that there is no “I” in the word TEAM. Christine’s mantra is “Together Everyone Achieves More”; that’s why we are The Family of Downes & Wilson Funeral Home”.

Christine is always willing to lend an ear to her clients as most just need someone to listen without being judgmental or offering advice. Her satisfaction comes in knowing that a client who came into the Funeral Home with tears in their eyes leaves with a smile on their face and in their heart.
