The funeral of the late Lorena Meredith Best leaves Downes and Wilson Funeral Home, Eagle Hall, St. Michael on Friday, August 13, 2021 at 1:30 p.m. for St. Luke’s Anglican Church, St. George where INVITED relatives and friends are asked to meet at 3:00 p.m. for the service and interment.
The Organist is kindly asked to attend. Wreaths may be sent to Downes and Wilson Funeral Home no later than 12:00 on Friday, August 13, 2021.
Relatives and friends may pay their last respects at Downes and Wilson Funeral Home, Eagle Hall, St Michael on Thursday, August 12, 2021 from 4 p.m. – 6 p.m.
All COVID-19 protocols must be acknowledged.

August 13, 2021 at 1:58 amLorena will always have a special place in my heart. She was my first supervisor at CIBC Broad Street when we relocated to Barbados in 1976. Lorena made me feel welcomed at work and both herself and Paul helped Alfred and I to view Barbados as our home away from home for three years. We became good friends and years later we gave her the same peace of mind when we were there for Anton when he came to Jamaica to attend med school.
My dear sweet Lorena, no more pain, Rest In Peace.

August 13, 2021 at 1:31 amLorena played a very special part in the lives of both my wife Margaret and myself. Both Paul and herself were so welcoming and quickly befriended Margaret and myself soon after we arrived in Barbados in 1976, and Margaret went to work at CIBC at the Main Branch on Broad Street. We remained close friends for the entirety of our 3 year stay in Barbados, and their warmth and hospitality is indelibly printed in my mind. Lorna would always flash that beautiful smile and she was never less than impeccably attired at all times…at true fashion icon!
After Paul’s untimely passing we visited Barbados on various occasions and we always enjoyed our visits with Lorena and even spend a holiday with her at her home in St. George and she was the perfect hostess.
I remain extremely thankful that I was privileged to enjoy her love, kindness and friendship over the many years. She gave us the special gift of our “adopted son” Anton and we promise to look after him as she observes us from the Throne of Grace. We will miss you immensely Lorena. May your soul rest in peace.

I am also sad that I won’t be able to be in attendance. I will miss our frequent messaging and calls. I am sure that I will periodically forget and try to message or call her.
I hope God will give you the strength and comfort you need to grieve your Mum at this trying time. I am here for you both.
