With sadness we announce the passing of
Margaret Rose Knight
Also known as “Molly”
on Friday, July 3, 2026, at age 94.
Molly was born, raised and lived much of her Life in St James, later in St Philip and the UK.
She was a writer and author of six books, including her autobiography, ‘The Unstoppable Molly Knight‘ and ‘London to Ilaro Court‘, which chronicled the Life of her 3rd son, David Thompson, the late Prime Minister of Barbados. Molly was a committed member of the Democratic Labour Party (DLP) and personal secretary to the late Prime Minister of Barbados, Errol Walton Barrow.
Daughter of the late Agnes and Leonard Knight;
Sister of Donna (Australia);
The very beloved mother of the late Prime Minister of Barbados, David Thompson, QC; Charles, Paul, and Liz;
Cherished grandmother of Ayo, Dario, Natasha, Shivon, Sinead, Carlos, and Solomon; Misha, Oya and Osa;
Great-grandmother of 21;
Dear aunt of Derek, Tony, Trish, Roz and Jeremy;
Stepmother of Angela;
Step-grandmother of Matthew and Joshua;
Mother-in-law of Loren, Monique, Tina and Michael;
Relative of the Knight, Laurie, Hynam, Taitt and Harrison families;
She leaves behind a wide circle of family and dear friends, Natalie, Ashley, Michael, Frank, Witty and many others.
A service of Celebration and Thanksgiving will take place on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at 10 a.m. at the Chapel of Coral Ridge Memorial Gardens, The Ridge, Christ Church followed by a private cremation.
No flowers by special request.
Donations may be made during the service for the Salvation Army and RSPCA.
