    Dear Grandma,

At times like these, is wish I was more. I wish I was more than just a 17 year old. I wish I was able to travel down to see you. I wish I was here to see you smile.

At times like these, I wish I was older to come down here earlier, I wanted you to show me around. I wanted to stay over and see your kitchen that you always cook in. I wanted to see more of my family, I wanted to see the people that were important to you. I wanted to see where you bought your clothes, I wanted to see how you plant you favorites flowers, I wanted to see where you get those rotis.

At times like these, I wish I had the ability to still call you. I cry with my phone next to me. I cry with my phone next to me to see by some miracle you’ll call. I sit there in hopes to hear you answer. You always called, you always thought about me.

I got into the art colleges like you said I will. I wish I could tell you that you were right. I wish I can pick up the phone and tell you that the artwork you talk about non- stop payed off. You believe in me when I didn’t even believe in myself.

At times like this, I wish I can go back in time. I wish I could say goodbye grandma and that I love you. I wish, I just wish you were here.

To those of you who made it in person, those who watched it on live stream, those who could not make it in person but was thinking of her and our family and wrote their condolences here, we thank you all so much, each and everyone of you for paying your final respects to our mother. She was an amazing mom, to us she will always be the best, she was an amazing grandma she loved Cayla unconditionally, great big sister unconditional and inseparable love for each other, she was also an awesome friend because for some of you she was a confidant, teacher or just simply an inspirational voice with lots of wisdom and enormous knowledge to share. We were extremely honored to see so many of you there and especially in the rain, to witness her being laid to rest. Thanks to all of you from the Forde, Johnson, Thompson Sealy and Goodridge families.

Mom, I know everyone keeps saying that time will heal my sorrow, my grief but this pain that I feel will never go away. My heart is broken into so many pieces and I don’t know what to do without you. Your last words to me were “Lu it’s bad, take care of Cayla.” I got so scared that I prayed to my grandmother to ask her what to do, yes mom I told her that her daughter is sick and I asked her to tell me what to do and yes she did. She told me to call Father Hennis and I did, I called St Mary’s Church for his number I did not get then I called Mr Wilson for help and he got the number for me. Father Hennis prayed for us right there on the phone, and granny even though she is not here with us, she prepared me for what was coming next and you passed that night. I couldn’t believe when Timothy said you were gone, my life changed right there and then. I still call you every night and every morning and I pray you would answer. Mom you gave up so much for us so much, you put your needs aside and you made sure your children flourished, I will love you for all of eternity for ever and ever.
