GLADYS ADINA WALKES, née YOUNG, of Midway Lane, Pinelands, St. Michael and formerly of Lodge Hill, St. Michael; Faithful member of The People’s Cathedral Church, and Family Co- Op Credit Union entered peacefully into rest on Friday, 8th April, 2022 at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

Widow of Clairmonte Walkes;

Cherished mother of Colet, Winston and Valmay Young, Joycelyn Jordan, Judith Walcott- (Tobago), Carol Barrow (Barbados Parliament) and Allison Young-James;

Beloved Grandmother of Pauline Straker, Antoine Thorpe, Donna Young,

Shameka and Jahwin Merritt, Carolyn Young (St. Ambrose Primary),

Christopher Young (WeCare Pharmacy), Dr. Bently Young (Q.E.H),

Alex Cumberbatch (UWI Open Campus), Lydia Worrell (Next Steps Family Centre), Shakaira and Shakir Barrow, Aaron, Daniel and Robeth Walcott;

Great Grandmother of sixteen (16);

Adoptive mother of Orlando Harper;

Caring Aunt of Delora Walcott, Delreita Belgrave, Juiann Young-Lovell, Rosie Sobers, Peter, Anthony, Rohan, Cheryl and Susan Young and Ricardo Young (deceased);

Cousin of Julietta, Julius and Nicholas Gittens;

Mother-in-law of Anthony Jordan, Roy Walcott (Tobago), Michael James, (W. I. R Distillery) and Matthew Barrow;

Relative of the Young, Williams, Hall and Cadogan families;

Friend of Daphne Harper.

The funeral of the late Gladys Adina Walkes née Young leaves Downes and Wilson Funeral Home, Eagle Hall, St Michael on Friday, 22nd April, 2022 at 8:30 a.m. for People’s Cathedral, Bishops Court Hill, St. Michael where relatives and friends are asked to meet at 10:00 a.m. for the service. The funeral will then proceed to the Westbury Cemetery for the interment. Mourning colours are optional.

In lieu of flowers donations may be received for Ward C12 at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital and the Barbados Cancer Society;

Relatives and friends may pay their last respects at the Peoples Cathedral on Friday, 22 April, 2022 from 9 a.m. – to the start of the service.
